MWRO Joins Request for IACHR Water Hearings on U.S. Violations

Michigan Welfare Rights Org has joined dozens of groups in the U.S. Human Rights Network calling for a U.S.-specific hearing at the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights (IACHR) on water and sewage right violations. The hearing request was sent seeking intervention on behalf of low income residents of the U.S. for human right violations on clean, affordable, accessible water and sanitation.

The IAHCR operates through the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC. OAS has 35 member-states in North-Central and South America and “uses a four-pronged approach to effectively implement its essential purposes, based on its main pillars: democracy, human rights, security, and development.”
